My First Blog…..
Today I find myself on a cold but beautiful winters day at home. No school and no work is in the forecast for the Davis family! So I decided to give Justin a break and take some time to write my first blog. In the midst of the daily grind and weekly expectations it is a breath of fresh air to just hang out with the fam with no agenda to meet. Just play, play, play….something that we rarely hear about these days.
If you are like me there are many days that your agenda is so full that you mindlessly go from task to task without a second thought. Life can be so busy! But as many of you know beyond the daily grind is the ever-present reality of the state of our economy. Questions rise to the surface such as “will I have my job by the end of the quarter”…. “Will my ageing parent loose his pension?”… “How can I give money away to others when I can’t even meet my own bills?”. Do any of these thoughts hit home with you? So many of my friends right now are without jobs regardless of where they are on the pay scale and many of them on the verge of losing their homes. I know depressing isn’t it?
And so it goes and the daily grind in some ways acts as a great escape to not have to think about the realities of the world. We allow our daily duties and financial state to either numb us or shape us. How do I know this? More than ever Christians and non-Christians are harder to separate. We divorce at the same rate, we give to charities at the same rate… the list goes on. So I ask you as I have often asked myself who are you? In these depressing times where do you find your worth? With so much against you HOW can you be different?
Isaiah 43:19 “For I am about to do a brand-new thing. See, I have already begun!”
2 Corinthians 5:17 “What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life has gone, A new life has begun!”
2 Corinthians 5:17 “What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life has gone, A new life has begun!”
God has HUGE plans for you! Regardless if you are rich or poor, married or divorced, addicted or recovered, believed in or not! What ever “it” is that defines you and holds you back from pursuing the vision God has given to you, He is encouraging you to dream and believe! Maybe that’s “going first” like my friend Pete Wilson who publicly shared his struggle that pushed others to share theirs and find healing. Maybe it is you as a couple sharing your hardships with friends, family and the local church to say although the road is hard addiction will not define you like my friends Jeremy and Mandy did. Maybe it’s you as a family serving at a shelter to sort clothes or serve a meal!
YOU no matter where YOU are have the power of Christ to lead you to make a difference in a world that is so desperate for YOU to do so! What if it started with you? What if the history books would write about these dark times and how it was you, your family and your local church that took what they had and forever impacted the world with a loving Savior who totally has the power to do so if you let Him! Thank you to those who have already started and those who will believe in themselves and God to begin.
