Just Jump

We are in this series at Cross Point called Faith, Hope and Love. Last week, I had the opportunity to talk about the encounter between God and Moses at the burning bush. What I realized as I prepared for this message is that I am a lot like Moses. When God calls Moses, Moses says “Here I am.” That is until God tells Moses what He wants him to do. Then Moses quickly says, “Who am I, that I should lead your people?”

I am very good at offering God my conditional obedience as well. I say yes with my mouth, but then put in conditions and stipulations that will allow me to feel like I am in control. I think we fail to jump into the calling God has for us for three basic reasons:

-Our past failures
-Our present fears
-Our future doubts

We continue our Faith, Love and Hope series this weekend and Pete will be talking about Joshua. The story of God is filled with ordinary people who had a choice to embrace or walk away from the call of God. Maybe there is an area of your life today that God is saying “Do you trust me? If so, then jump!”

I know I keep saying it but that sermon was a home run. I almost want to grab people off the street, duct tape them to a chair and make them watch it.
