She Said Yes…Again!

I can’t think of a better way to come back from a blogging break than to celebrate my remarriage anniversary. Four years ago today, my lovely wife, Trisha, stood in front of God, our family and our kids and chose me again. Despite my adultery, despite my lies, despite all the ways I had destroyed our marriage, she believed in me and more importantly in a God that could recreate me…and our marriage.

This summer we will celebrate our 15 year anniversary. I have often said to her over the past few years, “If you knew when we got married what you know about me and our marriage today, would you still have married me?” Her answer every time leaves in me in awe and filled with gratitude when she says “I’ve chosen you twice, and I’d chose you again.”

Is there a better picture of God’s love than that? God knows everything about you…all of your adulterous thoughts and actions, all of your lies, all of your failures…and yet He chooses you…and He chooses me. I’d like to challenge you today, if you are married, to tell your spouse that if you had it to do all over again…you would say yes. I know from personal experience how special it feels hearing those words “I choose you…again.”

Maybe your wife or your husband desperately needs that from you today.
