The Saturday Between

This past week on our blog has been one that we will treasure. The honest conversation, the seeking of God’s heart, the vulnerable sharing and transparent comments were amazing.  I think it was God’s providence that this blog series happened during Holy Week, and culminated with Good Friday.

As we come to the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, these thoughts come to mind that I’d like to share with you.

-Hopeless days always come before a resurrection

-Sometimes my dream has to die before God can give birth to His vision

-When I think God has made His last move, it was really just the start of His movement in my life

-Sometimes God allows me to lose hope so I can can find my true hope in Him

-What I see as defeat, failure and loss He sees as an opportunity to demonstrate His power and His plan.

-When I have lost hope, it is because I am living my life looking at Saturday and forgetting about Easter Sunday.

Maybe today, you find your life somewhere between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Can I just encourage you that you are not in a season of defeat but a season of preparation.

Hopeless days always come before a Resurrection.

Happy Easter.

I've been stuck on the "in between" as well. Blogged about it yesterday. It's one thing to go into Holy Week and Good Friday knowing that we'll be singing "He Is Risen" on Sunday, but the disciples didn't have that context. They didn't know resurrection Sunday was on the way.

I have to think they had hope, but were also afraid. "What if he is gone" "What if we misunderstood him" "What if we were wrong". The questions are real and they don't intimidate God, for they are the cracks between the bricks that pave the road we walk. They are the incomplete moments when we hope, yet we wonder.

As you can tell, my heart is stuck on "Saturday" right now. I'm grateful for Friday, thankful for Sunday… but what about Saturday? Thanks for the reminder, bro.

Grant, I’m there too. This is an excellent post J&T. I know we’re past Easter Sunday, but all this Holy Weekend I’ve felt I was still in the grave. While others at church we’re celebrating the Risen Saviour, I was weeping like Mary and the gang on Good Friday.

These days I feel like some burden’s upon my heart and I can quite pinpoint it. My pastor preached an excellent sermon on Sunday that spoke to my heart but I feel as if my heart didn’t quite get it yet. I’m feeling like a satellite that’s broken free from its orbit and is spinning loose in space.

Maybe this is where God wants me to be? I don’t know. But right now I feel as if it’s still that dark Saturday.

"Sometimes my dream has to die before God can give birth to His vision"

That's where I'm at. Holding on to Hab. 2:3 – "For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay."
