Jared Fogle and Sexual Brokenness

Like you, I’ve been stunned the past few days hearing details of the Jared Fogle case. Our family just moved to Zionsivlle, Indiana, where Jared Fogle lives so the intensity of the story has been very noticeable in this community. I was sexually abused as a child. My heart breaks for the 14 victims and their families as they try to put the pieces of their lives back together. My…

Tomorrow night is the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. I have to be honest with you and tell you that I’m not much into baseball. Our family will watch portions of World Series games in October, but we’ve never really been captivated by the sport. On, Tuesday May 1, 2012 we finished watching SportsCenter and were making our way to the dinner table when a story came on that transcends…

Regret and Remorse

On Tuesday, Trisha and I had the opportunity to speak at the Velocity Conference in Atlanta. (Thank you guys so much for your prayers and your words of encouragement.) We spoke to about 800 church leaders. It was an out of body experience. Three years ago, we lived in Indianapolis, not sure if God would open a door to return to ministry, and on Tuesday, spoke to ministry leaders. Only…

Home for the Holidays

This week will be one of the biggest traveling weeks of the year. Over the next month, many of us will travel to see family and spend time with relatives. That can be an awesome thing; but it can also be a stressful thing. For so many of us, the Holidays are a reminder of what is broken in our family. There are certain relationships that we encounter during the…

Benefits Of Brokenness

Is it possible to live most of your life as a Christian and get it wrong? It was for me. For years, I said that I believed things about God, but lived my life as if I didn’t. I believed that God was in control, yet I acted like I was. I believed that God had the authority to guide my decisions, my finances, my marriage, my relationships…but so often…

Delayed Healing

I remember the first time a good friend of mine confronted me about not telling the truth. They had approached Trisha a few days before and voiced their concerns, and got her permission to talk to me about it. This person listed a few examples of times that I had exaggerated details in a story. They gave me an example of a time I’d left out an important detail to…

I mentioned yesterday that Trisha and I were interviewed at Mountain Lake Church this weekend. We had some people ask about the audio or video of that interview. Maybe this is for you today…maybe it is for someone you know. We are thankful for our RefineUs community that prays for us as we seek to restore hope and renew marriages. Modern Family, Week 3, Shawn Lovejoy, Justin and Trisha Davis…

Healing Through Pain

We are about an hour from heading to the hospital for Isaiah’s surgery. He has holes in each of his eardrums that need to be repaired. Three months ago, he had surgery on one of his ears that was unsuccessful, so they have to redo that ear, and then move onto his other ear. We are praying that both ears heal completely. As I was praying this morning for that…

Putting Ice On It

Opening night of the NFL season last year our family was invited to a kick-off party. The Titans opened up against the Steelers. My middle son Elijah was playing flag football and had practice that night and Trisha had a meeting at the church. So my plan was to go to Elijah’s practice…then go to the party and try to be there by kick-off. The last play of practice Elijah…
